Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Collectathon ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Collectathon mobile app, the collectathon.app website, and related services (the "Service"). Collectathon is a platform for sticker collectors to track their albums and arrange swaps — "interchanges" — with other collectors.
We never see or store your password. Sign-in is handled securely by Firebase Authentication (including Google, Apple, and Facebook sign-in). Your credentials are managed by those providers, not by us.
1. Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up via Firebase Authentication we receive a unique user ID and basic profile details you choose to share (such as display name, handle, and avatar).
- Collection & trading data. The stickers you mark as owned, duplicate, or missing, and the interchanges you start, receive, accept, or decline.
- Messages. Content you send to other collectors to arrange a swap.
- Optional location. If you enable it, approximate location to help you find nearby traders and fairs. You can turn this off at any time in your device settings.
- Device & usage data. Basic technical information (device type, app version, diagnostic logs) used to keep the Service running reliably.
2. How the interchange (swap) feature uses your data
The core of Collectathon is connecting collectors to trade stickers. To make that work:
- Your public profile (display name, handle, avatar, and verification status) is shown to other collectors so they can identify who they are trading with.
- When you generate a "Scan Me" code, it encodes only your account's unique ID. Scanning it opens an interchange with you — it does not expose your email, password, or private data.
- When an interchange starts, the participants can see each other's relevant collection details (such as the stickers offered or requested) needed to complete the swap.
- Messages exchanged to arrange a trade are visible to the people in that conversation.
3. How we use your information
- To operate core features: album tracking, matching, and interchanges.
- To authenticate you securely and keep your account safe.
- To show you relevant traders, requests, and notifications.
- To diagnose problems, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
4. How your data is stored and protected
Collectathon is built on Google Firebase. Your data is stored in Firebase services (such as Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage) protected by access rules and encrypted in transit. As noted above, authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication — we do not store your password. We restrict access to personal data to what is needed to operate the Service.
5. Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only:
- With other collectors, as needed for the interchange and social features you choose to use (as described in Section 2).
- With service providers that power the app, such as Google Firebase, who process data on our behalf.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service.
6. Your choices and rights
- Review and update your profile information in the app at any time.
- Control optional permissions such as location and notifications from your device settings.
- Request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, or delete your account, by contacting us (see Section 9).
7. Children's privacy
Collectathon is intended for users who meet the minimum age requirements described in our Terms & Conditions. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below that age. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can remove it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or website.
9. Contact us
